Artist's Statement

Over the past decade, I have allowed myself to answer my creative calling - an attempt to understand and express the manifested messages that appeared to find my body, mind, and soul as a channel. As a mixed media artist, I work with a palette of materials such as paint, metal, textiles and pastels to efficiently express my experiences and perceptions of truth.

Historically, my work has displayed superficial and emotionally weighted problems, as an attempt to navigate and overcome traumatic experiences. Recently, my understanding of who I am, both as an artist and an existing body, has shifted through the growth of my consciousness, as I find importance in displaying, communicating, and challenging the core of any perceived realities. I aim to offer a moment of stillness and understanding, profound healing and empowerment for myself and others through physical energetic creations.

My artistic practice is quiet and honest. I seek to understand the intuitive connections that are reflected through colour, shape and sound, and explore why they create different experiences. Often, the answers reveal themselves within the work.

I have a cultivated exhibition history to follow the development of my work, most notably featured in juried showings at the Art Gallery of Mississauga, Ontario and Propeller Gallery in Toronto, Ontario. My work is held in several corporate and private collections. In 2021, my work and artistic process was awarded by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, offering the Artistic Merit Presidential Scholarship and placement in the Dean’s Scholars Program to study in Sienna, Italy.
